The Black History Trip 2 is a four-hour field trip comprised of a hands-on workshop at the Studio Museum in Harlem and various interactive exhibits at the newly opened Sports Museum of America (a 40,000 sq. ft. museum dedicated to the history of American sports).
At the Studio Museum in Harlem students will:
1) see and experience various African-American art exhibits
2) participate in a hands-on workshop in which students create
their very own works of art using the techniques they learned
about from the exhibits
At the Sports Museum of America students will learn about the contribution African-Americans have made to the history of sports. Specifically they will:
1) engage in over 20 different mechanical and computerized
interactive exhibits
2) see and touch the original Heisman trophy and other sports
artifacts (e.g. Alex Rodriguez’s and Ken Griffey Jr.’s bats)
3) view films and exhibits about sports and the historical impact
they have had on improving and advancing American society
(Minimum of 40 people required to book this tour. Bus transportation is not included in tour price.)
